Solatron Metrology:Linear Encoders
|
In a world where everything is going digital, the Solartron Metrology Linear Encoder gives you:
The power of the Orbit Network: allows simple, modular network system construction so you can be up and running in minutes. You can combine Digital Probes, Linear Encoders and other digital modules to suit your individual applications. It also eliminates the bulky and complex cabling of conventional probes.

System configuration
The Linear Encoder consists of the probe head and the Probe Interface Electronics
(PIE) which can be connected directly to a Solartron Metrology Digital Readout,
a PC or a PLC via Solartron Metrology's Orbit Network System.
Alternatively, sine wave output variants are available and allow full compatibility
with all existing systems. A standard industrial plug replaces the PIE.
Probe head
The Linear Encoder probe head contains a high-accuracy optical scale, together with a precision mechanical bearing assembly. For maximum accuracy, a fused quartz glass substrate is used to minimise temperature effects, giving a very high level of performance over the full stroke. A reference mark is included on the scale to facilitate absolute measurement.
Probe Interface Electronics (PIE) - Orbit Versions Only
Housed in a custom designed connector, the Probe Interface Electronics convert the signal from the probe into a digital format (Orbit). PIE connectors can be plugged straight into Digital Readout or clipped together using the T-con.
Sine wave output
An industry standard connector is used for the voltage and current outputs. This enables the sine wave Linear Encoder to connect to Solartron Metrology's IBox and any industrial standard electronic interface.
